Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia Award
Gurukul Pratishthan has instituted a national-level award to honour invaluable contributions made by artists in Indian Classical Music. The Award grants the recipient a felicitation, memento and cash sum. But, its core essence shines with its name which is kept after the most celebrated Flutist in India Padma Vibhushan Pandit Shri Hariprasad Chaurasia. The award is iconic as a symbol of ultimate excellence in classical music, and makes a fine offering of gratitude to Guruji for his legendary work on Flute.
Attained with the status of a remarkable flutist (Carnatic style) Dr. Shri. N. Ramani was the first recipient of this award. Possessing the same fervour for musical talent, Ganasaraswati Kishoritai Amonkar was the second recipient of the ‘Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia Puraskar’. A year later, it was awarded to the living legend of Santoor, Padmavibhushan Pt. Shivkumar Sharma. Last year’s Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia Award will be given to the legendary vocalist of the Mewati Gharana Sangeet Martand late Pt. Jasraj,Ustad Amjad Ali Khan sahib
